The keys to the villages

Many of the towns and villages in our region are real gems, rich in exciting history and architectural marvels.
Various routes have been developed to help you explore them:

  • From the rocky spur of Capdenac-le-Haut, one of the most beautiful villages in France, gaze down at the Lot Valley before plunging into the town’s rich ancient and medieval past

  • Delve into the heart of the incredible industrial saga of the town of Capdenac-Gare where river, railway and companies mingle with an urban landscape dating from the 19th and 20th centuries

  • The town of Faycelles, like a sentinel overlooking the Lot Valley, offers amazing scenery of cliffs and villages

  • In Cajarc, discover the medieval past of this town that was so dear to Coluche and Sagan, nestled in a cirque surrounded by cliffs on the banks of the Lot

  • The cliffs of the Célé Valley part to reveal Marcilhac and its ancient Benedictine abbey, a jewel with 1,001 stories

  • Assier will propel back to the Renaissance, when Galiot de Genouillac, the Grand Squire of France under François I, built the château and the village church

  • On the limestone plateau, come and explore the surprising village of Thémines at the gateway to a karstic region in which waterways lose themselves

  • Next, your route will take you to Lacapelle-Marival, a town which boasts great architecture at the base of an imposing 15th century château

  • Recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France, Cardaillac offers up its fortified towers and the medieval area outside its walls, perched atop a rock spur at the gateway to the Ségala region
