Google Map : Asprières 12
Perched on a hill between the valley of the Lot and that of Diège, Asprières was at the same time a stopping-off place and a defensive site.
Developed around a prieuré connected with the abbey Saint Martial of Limoges, the importance of the village came from the passage of the ancient Roman way become route of pilgrimage of Rodez to Figeac by Rignac. The restless aspect of the relief offers magnificence and variety of the panoramas.
The church is particularly remarkable, testifying by its dimensions and its sculptures, of the wealth of its past. The door of the ancient house prieurale, the arches of the City hall, the well-kept architecture of houses call back its ancient city status. Asprières was chosen as administrative centre of canton in the Revolution and it lived until 1922.
