Situation

The town is situated, between the Lot and Dordogne rivers, in the heart of the Ségala region which comprises the plateaux (400 to 600 m above sea level) of the western foothills of the Massif Central. It is within easy access (30 minutes) of Figeac, Rocamadour, Padirac, and the lake at Tolerme.

Lacapelle Marival - Important dates

In 1270 Géraud 1st of Cardaillac settled in Lacapelle Marival and began building the castle which is still associated with the village. Situated at a crossroads between main commercial routes, it develops as a thriving market town.

The town suffered during the Hundred Years’ War, as did the whole of the region. Then new prosperity encouraged new businesses, glass making, tile making, weaving....

On 11th may 1944 the “Das Reich” SS division forced the population to assemble in the village square and 86 inhabitants were deported.
