Situated in the Lot valley between Figeac and Cajarc, the Romanesque church at Saint Pierre Toirac was built on the site of a former priory given to the abbey in Figeac in 889
The church has are over 50 carved capitals, Byzantine style decoration and enigmatic inscriptions. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful Romanesque buildings in the Lot department. Archaeologists have discovered sarcophagus which are placed outside the church.
In the shade of the trees a picnic and play area has been created and fountains, bread ovens, wash houses await discovery.
