Google Map : SAINT-JEAN-DE-LAUR
Situated on the Causse, 395 m above sea level, Saint Jean de Laur stretches for nearly 7km from north to south
A number of dolmens and burial mounds attest to early settlement here. As elsewhere in the Quercy, the course of history affected the village and especially the decline of the village in the 19th century when the phosphate mines closed down and the vineyards suffered from the phylloxera disease.
However the village has retained the characteristic features of its houses as well as its agricultural vocation and is rightly proud of the quality of the lamb and black truffles produced here.
