Three dolmens in the village attest to an early occupation of the site of Faycelles

A number of vestiges of the Gallo Roman history of the village can be seen in the Town Hall.

In Medieval times, the village moved up from the valley to the plateau where it developed around a feudal castle. It was taken by the English troops during the Hundred Years’ War. In the 15th century the castle became a residence of the abbot of Figeac before demolished by order of king Louis 13th following the religious wars.
