Leaving Figeac in the direction of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Causse et Diège is the gateway to the Aveyron.
On the southern banks of the river Lot, the community comprises several old villages. The distinctive feature of Loupiac which was a possession of the abbey in Figeac in the 12th century, are the houses forming a square around Saint Saturnin church. The hamlet of Mas du Causse on the banks of the river Lot is worth visiting to see the typical houses of the Causse which vie with those of the village of Prix and its superb mansion.
The range of constructions visible of the walk to Gelles includes springs, wells, drinking troughs, wash houses, before you reach the village which has a swimming pool built in the shade of the trees on the main square.
In Salvagnac, a halt on the way to Capdenac you can see the 14th century medieval castle, and a 17th century altar screen the church.
From le Teil, on the way to Saint Loup, there is an exceptional panorama encompassing the Causse de Villeneuve, Faycelles, the Diège valley and as far as the Auvergne mountains. Past the view point, the pre-Romanesque chapel of Saint Loup will enchant you, nestling in the green slopes, the chapel was given to king Pépin d’Aquitaine in 838 and Saint Clair was venerated for his powers in curing eye ailments.
