Google Map : CARDAILLAC

To the north of Figeac, the village of Cardaillac marks the limit between two of the geological regions of the Quercy, the Causses and the Limargue.

Several members of the Cardaillac family were appointed bishop of Cahors : Géraud 3rd in the 11th century and Guillaume around 1208.

Overlooking the Couzou valley, Cardaillac was taken several times during the Hundred Years’ War, suffered during the religious wars and was dismantled by order of Richelieu in 1629.

Two 12th century towers are vestiges of the medieval castle : the Sagnes tower, open to visitors in season, and the Clock tower also known as the Barons’ tower.
Visit the Musée Eclatée : Instead of collecting the furniture, utensils and objects from the past and putting them in one place where they lose their significance, people in the village, enthusiasts of bygone days, had the idea of leaving them where they have always been. A museum where life still throbs.
