Situation
On discovering Capdenac-le-Haut, Prosper Mérimé exclaimed « It is one of the most beautiful places in France”.
An ancient Gallo-Roman fortress overlooks a meander in the river Lot valley. It’s position is on the border between Lot and Aveyron departments.
From Roman times and through the Middle Ages Capdenac-le-Haut has witnessed the history of France, an opportunity to revise one’s lessons in this open air museum.

Inhabited since the Neolithic times many historic figures have laid claim to the site of Capdenac le Haut.
